Most people do not realize how much visual complexity exists within the world. We selectively process images without processing all of the details. Your eyes filter out more details than you would expect possible.

Below, you’ll see a 3D rendering that shows a room within a luxury property. Here’s what we’d like you to do. Read the instructions first, and then try out the activity for yourself.

  • Scroll to the bottom of this page.
  • Close your eyes.
  • Open your eyes and look at the picture for just two seconds.
  • Make your best guess of how many individual objects are within this rendering.
  • Don’t take time to count. Just make a snap judgment.
  • Record your answer somewhere.
How Many Objects Do You See in This Room?

How Many Objects Do You See in This Room?

We know the actual number of elements in the photo. We’ll answer the question in the next post.

This is a really great example of how complex visual storytelling can be. You made a great point in your latter post about how our unconscious mind can interpret lots of imagery easier than our conscious mind can. There is this guy who does video tutorials and presentations about visual storytelling, look him up on this site and watch him on tv for free!
